NEW AT THE SPA: Clear + Brilliant: A Gentle Skin Resurfacing Treatment
At Suzanne Bruce and Associates, our main objectives include reversing sun damage, reducing the signs of aging, and, of course, helping you look and feel your best! Our newest technology, Clear + Brilliant falls under all of these categories. What is Clear + Brilliant?
It is a fractional resurfacing laser performed on the face, neck, chest, arms or hands. It is a treatment that is similar but less aggressive than our Fraxelre:store, yet slightly more aggressive than microdermabrasion. Like the Fraxelre:store, it creates small, pinpoint treatments zones in the skin, leaving healthy skin around the area treated to promote rapid, safe healing.
After our recommend series of C+ B treatments you will see improvement in texture, tone and pores, giving you an overall smoother and more youthful appearance. The best part is that you’ll experience only minimal swelling and redness for 1-2 days post treatment. We have several well priced packages ranging in price from 5 to 3 treatments, spaced at least 10 days apart. Call of visit today to learn more about this new technology.

It is beach and swimsuit season and the hottest new cosmetic produce in Houston might also be the coldest. Coolsculpting promises to get rid of "love handles" and "muffin tops" by freezing them out. http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=news/health&id=8134064

Clarisonic Mia Sonic Skin Cleansing System
Introducing the Clarisonic Mia, the smallest (travel size) Sonic Skin Cleansing System, the one-button, one-speed Mia comes in a variety of colors and fits your active lifestyle – offering beautiful skin at home or on-the-go.
Sonic skin cleansing improves skin tone, reduces the appearance of pore size and helps skin care products work their best.
The Clarisonic Skin Cleansing System uses a patented sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to clean, soften and smooth skin. In just 60 seconds, the micro-massage action removes 6X more makeup and 2X more dirt and oil than cleansing with your hands alone. Removing more dirt and oil from your pores also helps products work more effectively.

More News From Dr. Suzanne Bruce
Two new technologies have made a big splash this year at SBA. The addition of the fractionated thulium laser to the existing fractionated erbium laser has made our Fraxel Dual an even more effective skin resurfacing treatment. This FDA-approved device is safer than traditional CO2 resurfacing, and the ability to combine these two wavelengths in a single treatment and series gives us even better results on wrinkles, texture and brown spots than the original Fraxel. The other new technology is the body-slimming ZERONA®. A series of these cold-light, no-surgery, no-downtime laser treatments has helped our clients trim on average four inches combined from several body areas in just over three weeks. Combining ZERONA with the body contouring VelaShape™ II has helped our clients trim hips, buttocks and thighs.
Our certified physician's assistant, April Harrison, just celebrated her fifth anniversary with SBA. She has built up a loyal following and has seen an astronomical rise in her dermal filler business thus far in 2010. With our various filler offerings, she can do wonders giving our patients a fresher, younger-looking face. In the article, The Eyes Have It, she shares her thoughts on all the treatments we offer to rejuvenate the eyes.
At Suzanne Bruce and Associates, we are big proponents of using skin-care regimens to improve and maintain the appearance of your skin. We offer three terrific product lines. All are designed to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, lighten or remove brown spots, even out skin texture, and protect the skin from environmentally-caused free radicals that can damage skin at the cellular level. Our latest line addition is VIVITÉ®, a uniquely formulated glycolic acid line featuring GLX technology. Our knowledgeable medical aestheticians and patient care coordinators (PCCs) offer free consultations and can design the right regimen for you. Call 713.850.0240 to set up a free consultation.
At The SPA, we offer a variety of peels to improve the appearance of your skin. Shea Wood, one of our wonderful medical aestheticians, describes the three peels in her article, A Primer on SkinMedica Peels. The Illuminize, Vitialize and Rejuvenize Peels graduate in terms of aggressiveness, but all are effective and recommended to give you healthier, glowing skin.
We had the opportunity this year – at The Center for Skin Research – to conduct two trials involving post-chemotherapy cancer patients. Through our recruitment efforts for these trials, we have learned about and had assistance from several wonderful local cancer support organizations, including Pink Ribbons, Purple Songs That Fly and the Periwinkle Foundation. We've also been aided by M.D. Anderson Cancer Center doctors, support staff and volunteers, and volunteers from the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure – Houston. I wanted to offer our thanks to all these groups and individuals, especially my dear friend Claire Goosey, for their help and urge you to support all these wonderful organizations and their efforts to help cancer patients and survivors and their families.
More ZERONA® News – FDA-Clearance
On August 24, 2010, ZERONA® was granted U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) market clearance as the first non-invasive aesthetic device for circumferential reduction of the waist, hips and thighs. This FDA-clearance is noteworthy because ZERONA was cleared as both safe and effective, and was the first device of its kind – which required ZERONA to undergo a more stringent review process with the FDA.
The FDA granted market clearance following the completion of a placebo-controlled, randomized, double-blind, multi-site clinical investigation evaluating sixty-seven study participants. The results obtained from that study demonstrated an average inch loss reduction of 3.65 inches across patient's waist, hips, and thighs in as little as two weeks. The clinical trial, absent of diet restrictions, exercise requirements, or any other adjunctive components properly illustrated the clinical utility of the ZERONA and set the precedent on how aesthetic devices should be evaluated.
ZERONA is a low-level laser procedure proven to remove fat and reduce inches without invasive surgery. There are no needles, no incisions, and no recovery time needed.
Our own patients have lost up to 7 inches when following our standard ZERONA protocol and up to 11 inches when following a ZERONA®/VelaShape™ combination regimen. Our patients, both compliant and non-compliant, have averaged 3.375 inches lost over the treatment period. Our patients that lost weight (between 2 and 6 lbs.) on average have dropped more than 5 inches. Of course, individual results vary.
