There are a lot of chemical peels on the market today making it overwhelming to find the right one for you. At The SPA at SBA, we offer a variety of different peels designed to treat specific conditions faced by our patients.

An advanced peel we offer in The SPA is the AFA® Hydrating Peel. It is a perfect first-timer’s peel. While only performed in medical offices like ours, this Acidified Amino Acid-based peel will help rejuvenate the skin by lightening pigmentation and evening skin texture. This peel’s uniquely patented formula uses Amino Acid Filaggrin-based antioxidants. While the antioxidants themselves are beneficial, these Amino Acids also encourage moisture retention in the skin, allowing for minimal irritation. The AFA Hydrating Peel gently exfoliates the skin, making it feel silky smooth instantly. It is great for those looking for an alternative to traditional alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) peels and is gentle enough for those trying chemical exfoliation for the first time.

Our medically-trained aestheticians offer two versions of this peel. The AFA Hydrating Peel is gel-based, designed for dry or sensitive skin types. Several different strengths are offered allowing us to tailor the treatment to your specific needs. The second version is the AFA Clay-Peel System, a two-step process. We begin with the application of a clay mask to remove impurities, followed with a specifically formulated Acidified Amino Acid gel to lighten your pigmentation and even your skin texture. This combination works together and is recommended for those with normal to oily skin. It is especially good for those prone to acne and blackheads. You will see improvement with a single treatment. For even better results, we recommend having a peel done once every 4 to 6 weeks. We offer single and discounted packages of both these peels.

The AFA® Hydrating Peel can be a wonderful add-on to our microdermabrasion procedure or our facials and can be used in conjunction with light treatments, such as our FotoFacial (IPL) offered in The Center for Cosmetic Dermatology.
