Recently, Solta Medical® launched the new Fraxel re:store DUAL Resurfacing Laser – a laser designed to target sun freckles, melasma, and brown spots. Melasma is a common condition that is thought to be related to female hormones combined with sun exposure. It occurs on the cheeks, chin and forehead. This condition leaves dark patches on the face. Bleaching creams and sunscreen may help improve the appearance; however, sometimes the patches are resistant to topical agents. New, fresh skin is revealed by days 5-7 after the laser procedure. Depending on the level of sun damage and/or melasma, it may take a few treatments for the desired amount of improvement.
