At the 2003 American Academy of Dermatology convention, we learned about an advanced microdermabrasion system known as DiamondTome™. The DiamondTome system uses an abrasive surface of fine diamond chips rather than crystals to achieve the polishing of the skin surface. It provides wonderfully smooth results without the mess of crystals.
Microdermabrasion helps to exfoliate the sun-damaged top layers of the skin and reveals healthier, smoother skin underneath. It can also improve brown or rough spots in aging skin. The procedure can help acne-prone skin by unclogging blocked pores and clearing up blackheads and whiteheads. The procedure generally takes about 30 minutes, and normal activities can be resumed immediately.
At The Center for Cosmetic Dermatology, our nurses perform DiamondTome and Derma Peel™ microdermabrasions. Because of their background in dermatology, our nurses can also detect anything suspicious or unusual on the face during treatment. You can usually be assessed on the spot by one of our board-certified dermatologists for any questionable skin condition.
