My CoolTone Story

by Dr. Suzanne Bruce

Shortly before the pandemic hit, our office got the just-introduced CoolTone™, the muscle toning device from the ever popular CoolSculpting®.  From the moment I heard about this device, I knew I wanted to be first in line to get the treatment. CoolSculpting continues to be a hit, people love it for its targeted 30-minute fat freezing (destructive) powers and I was sure CoolTone would live up to its parent too!  Plus, several of my fellow dermatologists across the country had received their CoolTone and really liked how CoolTone treatments strengthened, toned, and firmed their abs, glutes, and thighs.  So, I was eager to give it a try.

CoolTone uses magnetic muscle stimulation to trigger strong muscle contractions that your body could not otherwise achieve on its own.  After a series of 4 treatments over 2 weeks, the treated muscles will be stronger, firmer, and have a more toned appearance. Learn more on the CoolTone website or on our own website! We even have some before and afters on there!

When the Texas lockdown began and my gym closed, the silver lining was that I had access to the CoolTone. I was able to build stronger abs and glutes.  As a 65-year-old, my goal was not to look like Helen Mirren in her famous bikini photo from 2008.  I just wanted to have a flatter abdomen and lifted booty, and I saw definite results from my sessions.

Another reason I was interested in getting stronger abs and glutes was to help remedy my lower back problems.  I have a history of lumbar disc disease, and although it was much improved after a surgical intervention some years ago, I would occasionally get twinges of discomfort in my lumbar spine.  Since doing CoolTone, I haven’t had any discomfort at all in my back.  CoolTone is not a cure for back problems, but if your doctor agrees, strengthening your abs and glutes can’t hurt and might help!

The treatment takes only 30 minutes and is not painful.  You feel strong muscle contractions interspersed with a tapping sensation.  The intensity can be adjusted up or down as tolerated.  I, of course, used the maximum setting and found it tolerable. After a series of 4 treatments, maintenance treatments are recommended every few months to maintain the results.  Although I won’t be wearing a bikini anytime soon, I can definitely hold a plank for longer now, and I’m really happy with my new CoolTone-d muscles!

Since then my staff has been incredibly eager to try is as well. It’s perfect for those areas where you feel the results from your workout are not commensurate. We are excited to offer CoolTone as part of our body sculpting portfolio to our patients, as one of the first offices in Houston to carry this technology we are already loving the results on us and patients, especially when we combine it with CoolSculpting. If you are interested in learning more I would highly recommend coming in for a complimentary consultation in the SPA with either of my very experienced aestheticians Maria or Clarisse. This month CoolTone is on specials too! Feel free to leave your questions or comments below. For pricing call us at 713.850.0240.
