Here at Suzanne Bruce and Associates, we offer various treatment options to aid in rejuvenating the facial skin and overall appearance. As we age, our skin loses some of its elasticity and we naturally lose fat and collagen. This can make the face look saggy and contribute to the development of jowls and deep folds around the nose and mouth. While fillers and skin tightening procedures may be a great choice for many patients, there are some who may be looking for an alternative for a variety of reasons. InstaLift, a popular facelift alternative here in Houston, may fit those criteria for many.
In these before-and-after photos, pay attention to the skin around the nose and mouth. The patient’s cheeks appear more lifted a full month after the procedure.
What Is Silhouette InstaLift?
InstaLift is an exciting new treatment that uses dissolvable sutures threaded under the skin to raise and reposition the underlying tissue of the face and provide an instant “lift” and more youthful appearance.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
The best candidates for InstaLift are typically between 35 and 55 years old, although different people age at different rates. Good candidates must have skin that isn’t too thin or sun damaged, as this can cause the sutures to eventually become noticeable.
How Does It Work?
Silhouette InstaLift sutures are made of a dissolvable, biocompatible material called poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Each suture has tied into it cones, also made of PLLA, that are positioned in opposite directions (bidirectional cones). Once the suture is inserted under the skin, the skin is then positioned over these cones to pull it up. Poly lactic acid causes a mild inflammatory reaction which leads to the formation of new collagen around the cones. As the PLLA dissolves, the new collagen takes over the “lifting” role. The overall effect creates less prominent facial folds and jowls as well as a more contoured jawline for a youthful appearance.

Vectors are drawn where the sutures will be place to give the best lift. Most patients will need 3 sutures per side of the face.
The entire procedure takes about 45 minutes. After cleaning the skin off with a disinfecting soap, your doctor then marks the vectors which will provide the best lift. Each needle entry and exit point is numbed with a small injection. The patient is draped with sterile towels and the skin is cleaned once again. It is now time to insert the sutures. The patient may have anywhere from 2-4 sutures inserted on each side of his or her face. The suture insertion is virtually painless, since the exit and entry points are numbed and the plane of the skin where the suture is threaded is free of nerve endings.
Once the suture is threaded under the skin and the skin is set over the cones, the excess suture material is snipped off so that nothing emerges from the skin. Some of the needle marks are hidden in the hairline, while some are more visible on the cheeks. Within a day or two the needle marks are no longer visible. This makes InstaLift a low to no downtime procedure!

When Will I See Results?
Instantly! As soon as the skin is manipulated over the suture’s cones, it is suspended there, providing instant lifting of the folds and jowls. The results get even better over the next 2 to 4 months, as the jawline continues to appear more lifted and contoured.
How Long Will My Results Last?
The results will last up to 2 years. We have seen that when we combine treatments, the results are often even more appreciable and longer lasting. Ask about how Silhouette InstaLift can be combined with other skin rejuvenating treatments when we tailor a plan for you.Back to Top
