Insurance

Medical insurance providers classify most cosmetic dermatology treatments and procedures as elective, and therefore do not cover the fees. In most cases, the removal of conditions and growths including skin tags, benign moles, and visible veins is usually considered cosmetic and not covered by insurance.

During your consultation, your doctor or patient care coordinator reviews the cost of these procedures prior to the treatment. Our objective is to avoid any surprises for you.

Insurance

Providing us with your insurance information prior to your visit avoids delays associated with insurance verification. This helps us better inform you of your copay and surgical deductible obligations prior to your treatment.

A list of our accepted health plans is at the end of this page.

Your insurance company or Medicare will only cover procedures that they consider medically necessary. In some cases, we’re unable to verify insurance prior to your appointment or checkout. In other cases, your insurance carrier provides us with information on whether or not you’ve met your deductible. In these instances, we must collect the full amount of your charges or your deductible at your plan’s rates at the time of service.

In the event that your insurance carrier pays us for these services, our average time to refund any over-collected amount of $30 or more is 30 days from the date of service. For any overpayment amount less than $30, we will place a credit on your account. This is because of the cost of issuing refunds. You can use this credit on a future visit or request a refund.

If your coverage requires a referral and you or your insurer do not provide one at the time of your visit, we must collect the full amount of your charges at the time of service. Again, should a refund situation arise, we will return or credit any overpaid funds as outlined above within 30 days from the date of service.

Copays and Deductibles

Your insurance carrier will only cover procedures that are medically necessary. In most cases the following are considered cosmetic procedures:

  • Skin tags
  • Benign moles
  • Seborrheic keratosis

If you wish to have any of these growths removed, we will be happy to do it on a fee-for-service basis. Check with your doctor for the cost of these procedures before you have them treated.
