Tummy Tuck FAQs
How much does a tummy tuck cost?
At the time of your consult, Dr. Couvillion will create your unique abdominoplasty plan to address your personal concerns and goals before estimating costs. He will be able to better estimate your costs once the type of abdominoplasty is decided, the length of surgery, any additional procedures (like liposuction, breast surgery, etc), and other factors. To ensure you get high-quality results from an experienced plastic surgeon, SBA Dermatology & Plastic Surgery makes it easier to afford your tummy tuck by accepting several payment methods and giving you information on zero interest medical financing options.
What type of tummy tuck should I get?
Most people are candidates for one of the three most common techniques for abdominoplasty: full, extended, or mini. During your initial consultation, Dr. Couvillion will listen to your concerns and goals before performing a physical exam. Then, he will discuss the technique that will produce the best results specifically for you. Your anatomy and goals are the most important deciding factor in which technique is chosen so this is why a personalized consultation is essential!
Can I have a tummy tuck with another surgery?
Many patients combine a second surgery with abdominoplasty, as combing procedures on the same day leads to a single recovery period and also may save money on hospital fees. These additional procedures may be cosmetic (like a breast augmentation) or medical (like a hysterectomy). At your initial consultation with Dr. Couvillion, talk to him about all of your desires so a comprehensive surgical plan may be created to match your aesthetic goals. You might combine abdominoplasty with a breast lift or combine it with liposuction of the back for all-over body contouring.
What will my scars look like?
The incisions needed for your abdominoplasty will vary based on which technique is being used. In a standard tummy tuck, there is an incision at the belly button and in the pubic region (like where a c-section scar lies). During all tummy tucks, Dr. Couvillion's goal is to create the smallest, thinnest possible scars. He takes extra effort to hide the belly button incision, as in a two-piece bathing suit, this is the scar that is visible. It is our goal to make scars that are hard to notice and not distract from your result.

Breast Surgery FAQs
Do I need a breast lift or augmentation?
Your treatment plan might include implants, a breast lift, or both. Breast lift surgery removes excessive skin (and sometimes breast tissue) then re-positions the nipple to an appropriate position for the new shape and size. Breast implants are strategically placed to enhance breast shape and size. Sometimes we combine both implants and a lift at the same time, which is called an Augmentation Mastopexy. Our team will listen to your concerns and goals before discussing the best treatment options. An augmentation and lift may be necessary to revitalize the breasts after breastfeeding and pregnancy, but it all depends on your end goal and current anatomy.
Can I have my implants removed?
You might decide at some point that you want to remove or replace your implants. Dr. Couvillion does offer breast revision surgery if this is the case. If your implants are removed, you might want to have a breast lift to keep your breast appearance perky and full. For any concerns or questions, schedule a consultation at SBA Dermatology & Plastic Surgery.
How long do the results of a breast lift last?
Your body naturally goes through changes as you age, and these changes may affect your breasts. While you cannot stop the aging process, you can ensure that you maintain a healthy weight. Pregnancy and weight gain aside, the results of a breast lift can last for 10 to 15 years or longer, although this varies by patient.
Does a breast lift make my breasts larger?
Breast lift surgery is not intended to enlarge your breasts, but many women feel that their breasts do look larger. What they are seeing is the breast tissue in a smaller, more compact skin pocket. This can make the breasts look fuller. If you desire a larger breast size as well as a lifted appearance, an implant can be added to a lift. Discuss this with Dr. Couvillion at your consultation to include this in your treatment plan.
Is breast implant removal surgery covered by insurance?
Some insurance companies will pay to remove breast implants in the setting of severe capsular contracture or failure of an implant. Every company has a different policy regarding breast implant removal, and these are generally published online. Your cost in the setting of an insurance-approved surgery will vary based on your specific policy. When you meet with Dr. Couvillion, he will help to create a treatment plan to achieve your goals. Also, most breast implant companies have warranties on their devices, which can pay for some of the costs of surgery and/or replace implants for free.
