Our Practitioners

The talented staff of practitioners and dermatologists in our practice in Houston and Katy, Texas, offer both cosmetic and medical dermatology services performed with care and a thoughtful touch. With decades of collective experience, we have been refining and expanding our treatments and services since we opened our doors in 1997. Each dermatologist is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Bruce’s physician assistant (PA) is the first ever diplomate certified by the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, indicating that she has achieved the highest honor available as a dermatology PA. All of these professionals play active roles in the ongoing training of our support staff.

To meet with one of our welcoming and knowledgeable practitioners yourself, request a consultation online or call our office at (713) 850-0240.

Board Certification Matters

Each dermatologist at our Houston and Katy practice is certified by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). Founded in 1932, the board has always standardized and improved dermatological techniques around the country. Over time, the board has expanded to its present size of 17 directors who oversee its functions. The ABD is an independent, objective organization, and it is not affiliated with pharmaceutical companies, government, or educational institutions. The ABD is under the oversight of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), which regulates 24 member boards in fields including plastic surgery, pediatrics, and emergency medicine.

When a physician is certified by an ABMS member board, it indicates that he or she has demonstrated a significant breadth of knowledge about his or her field. To earn certification, physicians must undergo rigorous oral and written exams that test their competence in a variety of clinical scenarios. Only after earning a satisfactory score can a physician earn certification.

Board certification is a completely voluntary process, and doctors don’t need to be certified in order to practice medicine. Doctors who choose to pursue board certification do so because they wish to challenge themselves professionally and offer their patients the best service possible.
