Microneedling

Skin tightening with microneedling in Houston is an ingenious treatment that is almost deceptively simple; after a series of easy in-office treatments, your skin gets to work replenishing collagen and improving tone, texture, and appearance.

Is Microneedling Right for You?

Microneedling relies on your body’s natural reparative functions to boost collagen development and encourage smoothness and tone that you may not have experienced in years. Shaped like a writing pen, the tip of the microneedling device is made up of 12 completely sterile “micro needles.” During treatment, the small needles penetrate your skin, creating micro-channels, and stimulate the natural healing process.

This minimally invasive treatment is well tolerated by most people, and it’s especially good at reducing the signs of many common skin irregularities, including the following:

  • Some signs of sun damage, such as red blotches
  • Light skin pigmentation issues
  • Stretch marks and certain types of scars
  • Sagging or lax skin
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Rough patches (actinic keratoses)

Your Experience

Microneedling uses incredibly small, thin needles, ensuring your treatment is comfortable and controlled. Your practitioner cleanses your skin and applies a soothing topical gel before performing the procedure. The needles penetrate the epidermis and dermis at a precise depth that’s determined by the specific concern you’d like to treat. Your practitioner glides the device against your skin, and the entire process lasts for about 30 minutes. Depending on the needs being addressed, different products can be combined immediately post microneedling to enhance overall results. Your treatment will be fully tailored to your unique needs.

The treated skin may look a bit red or swollen for a few days, but this dissipates quickly.  You can resume any of your daily activities immediately after your visit. Gradually, as your skin develops collagen and begins to heal itself, results start to emerge -- typically within a couple of weeks.

Because skin is constantly regenerating itself, the results of your microneedling treatment are best when performed in a series. However, you can expect them to last for up to a year, depending on the severity of your original condition. Since the treatment is minimally invasive, it's safe to get touch-ups as needed.
