Our Dermatology Research Staff

Since 1999, SBA Dermatology & Plastic Surgery, located in Houston, has been performing dermatology research for pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical product companies and laser manufacturers. In 2020, we officially partnered with our colleagues at the Austin Institute for Clinical Research as their Houston location. Together, our knowledgeable and experienced staff of medical professionals works closely with our board-certified dermatologists and our other medical practitioners to test investigational drugs, products, and treatment devices for a wide range of skin conditions, such as acne, eczema, thinning eyelashes, rosacea, and skin aging.

Meet Our AICR - Houston Team

Known for our great customer service, we’re driven by clinical excellence and our pursuit to improve patients’ lives.

Every study begins with the hard work of this group. With over 25 years of combined experience, most members of our team have worked in several areas of research, from coordinating at the site level to working on the sponsor/CRO side.

Benefits of working with us:

  • Simplified logistics via a dedicated, centralized team overseeing all trial locations
  • Dedicated research personnel at each location
  • Unmatched access to a pool of potential trial participants
  • Accessible board-certified dermatologist principal investigators and sub investigators

All coordinators and investigators are regularly trained on Good Clinical Practices and FDA regulations. Many of our subjects are recruited directly from our primary investigator’s dermatology practices, although we have extensive experience with local and central advertising. We take pride in meeting — and in many cases, exceeding — our contracted recruitment goals.

We utilize Clinical Trial Management Software (CTMS) to help administer trials. We have experience with all common electronic data capture (EDC) systems and have a broadband connection available for data transfer.

AICR has many resources required to administer trials, including: dedicated refrigerators, state-of-the-art laboratory freezers, EKG machines, a dedicated camera room, a 24-hour temperature-monitoring system and a crash cart. All equipment is calibrated annually and maintained professionally.
